My Slate app was working. It would crash from time to time (more than other apps i use), but i could usually get it to work. But since the start is September 2013, every time I open it I cant get past the opening screen that says "updating database". Is anyone else having this problem?

Since updating the app, all it does is says its updating the database - and then nothing. This used to be one of my favorite apps for accessing slate articles! Please fix this.

I read every single article on slate using this app!

The large size, large number, placement and persistence of the advertisements on the new version is are ridiculous.The ads make it VERY difficult to navigate the site and break up the train of thought when trying to read an article interuppted by large ads. I would rather pay a fee for the app than put up with this. I LOVED Slate pre "new look" I almost hate it now.

Cant read user comments, and sometimes slide shows and pics dont show up, but content is excellent and app shows improvement with each new iteration.

I like the format of the app but it crashes constantly; at first with certain areas such as my "saved" articles but now even just opening it crashes it. Cant scroll wig your freezing and resetting then it happens again. Doesnt seem like they are working on it either, this has been happening for months!

Previous version was good. Now I can play videos nor the Skate news quiz. Why the loss of functionality? App also freezes and crashes too often.

Ive been using this app very happily for years, but after the latest update it wont open at all.

When it works, it works well. Unfortunately, it only works about 20% of the time. Crashes constantly.

I have been using the slate app since the first release. In the previous versions I could live with videos not appearing and other minor annoyances. On one of my devices this new version wont even open. It just crashes after trying to load. On the other two devices generally, I find the new app is bloated and slow to update content -- parallax does nothing for me. I know Slate wants pretty but when it comes at the expense of usable and quick -- you can keep your pretty.

The app is finally functional for the first time, and even pretty. Thanks for fixing it up.

Cant read a thing.

Worst update ever. Articles wont load. When and if they do load - the pictures within the article wont. Some articles wont load at all or will instead take you to an unrelated article. The app crashes fairly often and every once in a while jjuuussttt to spice things up it refuses to load new articles. The old app was much much more stable. TL;DR dont get this app.

What happened here. This could have been so good...

Loved the old version. The new one is just... a jumble.

Relevant and readable. I like the layout and the writing.
